W. E. D. McTaggart, Supt. of the buffalo park, had a very narrow escape last week when the pet deer at the park entrance charged him and inflicted injuries that proved painful. He was leading his horse to the watering trough and without warning of any kind the buck charged him, his horns penetrating Mr. McTaggart’s right leg. He seized the deer by the horns and threw him and it was only after clubbing him over the head that he showed his temerity. The deer has not been seen since but Mr. McTaggart has painful recollections of the fortunate escape he had.
