Buffalo Ready For Shipment

————

Rounding up of Pablo Herd at Ravalli, Montana, Proceeding

————

Many Still on the Range

————

After five weeks hard riding on the buffalo roundup and many narrow escapes for the riders, 215 buffalo have been corralled with a loss of twenty per cent, which was mostly made up of young calves. About one hundred and fifty head are still on the range and they will be ship[ped later to Ravalli and loaded in the cars and the hauling and loading of the shipment will be completed in about a week. The animals are in good shape.

On account of the hot weather and the small corral at Pablo’s camp on the Pend d’Oreille river, it has been decided to make two shipments in order to keep the buffalo from killing each other and also to keep them in good shape. Mr. Pablo is having considerable trouble to get men and teams to haul the buffalo. The big buffalo often break the crates, which are made of two inch hardwood. Mr. Pablo will start the rounding up of the balance of buffalo as soon as this shipment leaves Ravalli and also ship the animals as soon as he gets them in corral.
