Lamont Buffalo Herd

————

365 Head Will be Shipped to New Buffalo Park.

————

Owing to the severe wet weather Supt. Ed. Simmons, of Elk Park, has been compelled to fence in 100 acres adjoining the corral at Lamont and has turned the buffalo from the corrals into this pasture. The mud had got so deep in the corrals that any hay thrown into them was trampled into the mud and the buffalo were deriving no benefit therefrom. There is considerable good grazing on the ground fenced in, and the buffalo are able to eat the hay given them thus a saving in cost of feed is derived. Five men are guarding the pasture, night and day, where the 365 buffalo are now confined to prevent any escape.

Last Friday Supt. Simmons, of Elk Park with six men rounded up and corralled with the 350 buffalo already at Lamont, 15 more of the buffalo. This makes a total of 365 buffalo, which will be shipped to the new Park. There will be only 30 buffalo left in Elk Park.—Reporter, Ft. Saskatchewan.
