SIR DONALD KILLED

————

Veteran Buffalo of the Herd at Banff Gored to Death

————

Sir Donald, the only wild buffalo in captivity, was killed recently by the herd combining against him. Sir Donald was originally captured by James Mackay, of the Hudson’s Bay Company, forty years ago. A month ago it was decided to give him another year to live; now all that can be saved is his head. An examination of the carcass shows that all but two ribs were broken and that the shoulder blades were punctured and broken. The fight occurred in fallen timber and the lone bull, apparently got one leg under a log and before he could free himself was killed.
