Reincarnations _________image_________ With the rich history of Camp Wainwright now spanning 5 decades, and Buffalo National Park dominating the 30 years prior, it is necessary to preserve and renew some of the past for future generations to enjoy. Battle River Historical Society, operating the Wainwright and District Museum from the restored CNR station has reserved a section of their displays for Camp Wainwright and its past. Camp has supplied an army vehicle to sit at the Museum alongside an old caboose. A Sherman tank also guards Wallace Park and is visible from Highway 14. Flanking Buffalo Road and of Monument Hill in Camp are vintage pieces of military equipment and the Camp History Scrapbooks are for public viewing at Headquarters for an interesting walk through time. A few specific reincarnations from the past 80 years have established tangible connections for residents and visitors of the Camp to touch the era and learn from it. Many of the people who contributed to the history of Buffalo National Park and Camp Wainwright are still here to exchange memories. The history in the making is now which may not seem too significant to those just "working for a living” but please be encouraged to take pictures, date them, write about them and the memories associated with them; and look back with pleasure later. With numerous transitions to muddle one’s certainty, it is so important not to allow the story to slip away unacknowleged.
