Archie and his wife Marcia and family were an active group within camp and town communities. Much of the upgrading initiated by RV 83 was done under LCol Beare’s careful supervision and “as an old soldier? Yes, I think it was worth it” was his reply when asked of RV’s expense. The construction of a biathalon course at camp, completion of the communiplex indoor swimming pool, an alternate route for track crossing east of camp, and much talk about Camp and Town amalgamating were some of the events also taking place while Archie was CO. He recalls the first Terry Fox Run organized by the Camp and British helicopter pilots volunteering delivery of a valuable plasma cargo when once again a blood donor clinic was carried out in Wainwright. Archie, now employed by Lakeland College in Vermilion, has settled there for the present, often travelling to Wainwright to visit with friends he and Marcia have retained here.
