Waincon ’73 Units of 1 Combat Group were at Wainwright in June 1973 for the month long annual Waincon training exercise, commanded this year by Brigadier General G.G. Brown. All phases of war were rehearsed under a variety of geographical and meteorological conditions. Patrol, small arms, volleyball, soccer and flag football were among the competitions scheduled for the finale of the scheme. Conclusion of the exercise was celebrated with a presentation ceremony awarding competition winners with their trophies, and a huge barbecue on Buffalo Field. _________image_________ Above: Firing 105 mm Howitzer, #1 Gun J Battery 3 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, commanded by Sgt Warne Webber, Waincom ’73. _________image_________ Waincon ’73 - Recce Platoon crossing MacDonald Ford.
