CIBRG The 25th Canadian Infantry Brigande Replacement Group (CIBRG) was a training formation whose first unit was the 3rd PPCLI (formed November 30, 1950). The 25th CIBRG (created November 29, 1950 for the Korean War) took over all units not going immediately overseas. Later it would be the largest group of soldiers training at Wainwright during the war and afterward. The 25th Canadian Infantry Brigade Replacement Group later welcomed the 3rd R22eR, the 3rd RCR, and the G battery of the RCHA. This training formation was commanded by Brigadier W.J. Megill. After the first summer of training at Camp Wainwright, the units split up for the winter, with the new command Brigadier J.E.C. Pengman also moving his headquarters in Edmonton. The 3rd RCR left for Petawawa, 1st RCHA for Shilo, 3rd R22eR for Valcartier, 23rd Field Squadron for Chilliwack, the Strathcona squadron to Calgary, and the 3rd PPCLI to Camp Borden (and later to London, Ontario). Drafts for the far east were processed through Edmonton. The above information was researched and written by Ann Grever. Ann’s research, mostly completed during 1988, has been used in various places throughout this capter.
