Office of the Commander 1 Canadian Brigade Group/CFB Calgary Calgary, Alberta T3E 1T8 Camp Wainwright is the best training area that the Canadian Army possesses. As a result it has been the temporary residence of three generations of soldiers. In addition, the combination of varied terrain, size and maneuver space has made it attractive to our British and American confreres, as well as to the Canadian Air Forces. Of particular interest is the spirit of co-operation that has enabled us to use the Camp to such great training effect. The harmonious relations between the military, the Alberta government, grazing associations, energy corporations and local governments are a remarkable example of how one site may be used by a variety of groups to mutual benefit without impinging on the other agencies. It is most fitting that this history has been compiled to record the evolution of Camp Wainwright from its formative stages to the present period. I know that any soldier who has struggled across the Ribstone Creek or wrestled with map using on Khaki trail will be interested to know the origins of place, names and features. W. B.
